Hammond age 57 of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at his home of natural causes. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Peace United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg with Pastor Burt Williams presiding. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg. Friends may greet the family 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.   Online condolences for Ricky's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comRicky Lawrence Hammond was born April 25, 1959, in Oelwein, the son of Bernard and Hazel (Wickham) Hammond. He received his education in both Sumner and in Fredericksburg.On Feb. 14, 1978, at his brother’s home in Sumner, he married Diana M. Opperman. To this union, three children were born. Ricky worked at Meinerz Creamery then Beatrice Cheese, Con-Agra from 1977 – 1996. In Nov. 1996, he started two companies; Rick’s Tire and Service and RD Trucking LLC in Fredericksburg. They were just beginning their 21st year since starting these businesses. Ricky was a member of the Fredericksburg Fire Department where he had served as Fire Chief, He also is a member of the Hawkeye Community College Truck Advisory Board and had been an ambulance driver and volunteer for the Rescue Squad. He loved camping, fishing, golfing and especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Diana; three children, Laura (Josh) Meyer of Waterloo, Kenneth (Kelsie) Hammond of Fredericksburg and Melissa (Barry) Hammond of New Hampton; grandchildren, David (Jalissa) Snyder, Jonathan Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Isabella (Cam) Snyder, Devon Snyder, Addilyne Snyder, L.J. Robinson, Kruise Hammond and Kensie Hammond; great-grandchildren, Serenity Snyder, Anyamarie Snyder, Aiden Haar; brother, LaVerne (JoAnn) Hammond of Frederika; sister, Norma (Jim) Gilson of Benson, IL; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cleon Fish; and his grandparents
