Rinken comes up clutch again with leap to Drake

Lead Summary

When Rachel Rinken landed in the long jump pit at Waterloo’s Memorial Stadium Thursday afternoon, the New Hampton junior’s mind went back in time.
Rinken had just come up with a leap of 17 feet, 5 inches, cementing her “Miss Clutch” reputation, that not only gave her a win at the Wahawk Relays but also will send her to Des Moines on Thursday for the Drake Relays.
“When I jumped last night,” Rinken said Friday afternoon, “right away it reminded me of the state track meet last year. It felt the same, and I think I acted the same.”
