Yes, New Hampton improved to 22-1. And yes, the Chickasaws remained perfect — 12-0 — in the Northeast Iowa Conference.But no, New Hampton was far from happy with the way Friday played out.“I don’t think we’re even close,” senior first baseman Noah Hopp said when asked if the Chickasaws have yet to play their “best baseball” this season. “We’re not there yet; in fact, we’re a long way from it.”New Hampton survived a pesky Crestwood squad to stay unbeaten in the NEIC before tonight’s [Tuesday] critical doubleheader with Waverly-Shell Rock, which is 9-1 in league games.Coach Cory McDonald’s team had to rally from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits and then hold off a late Cadets’ rally to secure the win.Tied at two heading into the fifth inning, New Hampton finally was able to grab its first lead of the night.
