School ‘rush’ is ramping up

Lead Summary

As New Hampton Superintendent Jay Jurrens made his way through New Hampton’s new middle school last week, he stopped and smiled.
“This is more like it,” he said as he watched workman install the glass “railing” in the entryway and saw that both hallways and classrooms had carpeting in place. “There’s still a lot of work to be done … but I’m still optimistic that we’ll be ready on Aug. 23.”
Still, there was a reason the “construction zone” was hopping this past weekend.
“We are at crunch time,” Jurrens said. “I have been through this before, and it’s just a fact that construction projects always have that ‘rush’ at the end.”
