Once again, Chickasaws can’t finish
New Hampton coach Chad Sweitzer has waited all season for his team to put together a complete game in Northeast Iowa Conference play.
He’s still waiting.
Take Tuesday night, for example, as the Chickasaws gave Waverly-Shell Rock a battle for a half and then fell apart over the final 16 minutes in a 70-46 loss that sent them to their fourth straight loss.
“I’m beyond frustrated,” Sweitzer said after his team fell to 6-9 overall and 1-7 in NEIC games. “The bottom line is when you don’t put together complete games in this conference, you lose. And we’re losing.”
Waverly-Shell Rock came into Tuesday’s game with a 7-1 conference mark, but this was far from a lopsided game … at least at the start.
The Chickasaws took a 15-14 lead when Keagan John slashed through the lane and beat the buzzer with a layup, and even after the Chickasaws fell behind 36-27 late in the second quarter, they came storming back, thanks to an old-fashioned three-point play, a Tanner Lane rebound basket and a John steal and layup.
