It’s pretty obvious, but as the dust clears around second base, Walker Leibold is safe on this steal from a Turkey Valley game-one win over North Fayette Valley Thursday.

Two days, two splits for Trojans

Drilling’s gem highlights 6-1 win over NFV; 17-hit attack keys 14-3 win over Iowa Valley

In between a loss to Class 2A third-ranked New Hampton, Turkey Valley played an Upper Iowa Conference doubleheader on Thursday and traveled to Gladbrook on Saturday to play two teams they rarely see.The result was the same as the Trojans split both days, but coach Dan Stepan saw progress from his team that is now 8-11.Start with Thursday. And then proceed to Evan Drilling, who pitched a gem in the opening game against North Fayette Valley. The sophomore scattered eight hits, walked just one and struck out four in a 6-1 victory over the TigerHawks.“Evan Drilling pitched well, we played great defense and we made our hits count,” Stepan said. The rest of the story may be found in the June 21 Tribune.
