Starting over tonight

This wasn’t the way New Hampton wanted to go into the Class 3A regional softball tournament.
The Chickasaws made 17 errors in four games — three of which ended with New Hampton on the wrong side of the scoreboard — at the Don Bosco Invitational and limped to the end of the regular season.
But here’s the neat thing: New Hampton is no longer 22-14 and losers of five of its last six games; instead, the Chickasaws are 0-0.
“Basically, what it comes down to now is to get on a three-game winning streak,” said New Hampton coach Jack Seelhammer, whose team opens the playoffs tonight [Tuesday] with a home game against Osage. “I know it’s in them, but I’m not sure where we’re at right now. I’ve got a day to figure it out.”
First on Seelhammer’s agenda is to get his team to stop giving up unearned runs. 
At Don Bosco, New Hampton fell to Jesup 11-3 and beat the host Dons 5-3 on Friday before losing a heartbreaking 7-6 contest to West Marshall and falling 9-5 to Dyersville Beckman. Of the 30 runs scored against New Hampton at the tournament, six were earned.
