State qualifying track meets postponed

Lead Summary

A bout of almost winter-like weather — at least when it comes to temperatures and wind — has led to the postponement of a number of state qualifying track and field meets.
New Hampton will now compete in the 2A meet at Garner-Hayfield on Friday, and the area's two Class 1A schools — Nashua-Plainfield and Turkey Valley — will also compete Friday, with the Huskies traveling to Northwood while the Trojans will head to Edgewood.
All three meets will begin at 4 p.m.
As of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, 23 of the 34 state qualifying meets in the state had postponed because of temperatures that hovered in the 30s and 40s and winds that were gusting to 30 miles per hou throughout much of the state.
