Terry L. Crooks age 57 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Nashua, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at his home of natural causes.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua with Rev. Bill Nielsen officiating.Interment will be held in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City with Jim Wolff, Jim Ridder, Ron Brunsvold, Lee Crooks, and Ryan Petersen serving as pallbearers.Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.Terry Lynn Crooks was born Sept. 22, 1959, in Charles City, the son of Ray and Martha (Wolff) Crooks. Terry grew up on a farm 9 miles east of Nashua, the youngest of six children. He was a 1978 graduate from Nashua High School. He attended college at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Terry enlisted into the United States Army on May 23, 1978, and was honorably discharged May 22, 1981. Terry's specialty was fire support. He was stationed in Germany for 2 years and 2 months.In 1981 Terry moved to Sioux Falls, SD, after being discharged from the Army. He worked as a patient care aide with cerebral palsy patients. Terry then took a position as a custodian. He moved to Cedar Rapids, in 2003.Terry married Melaney Gallager. To this union two children, Justin and Sarah were born. The couple later divorced.Terry had a passion for reading. He liked to beautify the neighborhood he lived in. Terry loved spending time with his family and friends. Especially his visits to Sioux Falls to visit his children and grandson. He was a kind, gentle, loving person.Terry is survived by one son, Justin Crooks of Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Sarah Crooks of Sioux Falls, SD; one grandson, Christion of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Roger Crooks of Charles City, Lee (Regina) Crooks of Iowa City; one sister, Marty (Ron) Brunsvold of Davenport; brother-in-law, Jim Ridder of Rudd; sister-in-law, Andrea Crooks of Fort Madison.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Ridder; brother, Ron Crooks.Memorials may be directed towards Terry's grandsons education fund.--
