Tired Huskies struggle against Grundy Center

Lead Summary

The hectic schedule — not to mention a pretty talented Grundy Center football team — finally caught up to Nashua-Plainfield.  Playing their third game in a week, the Huskies never found their footing last Friday and suffered a 54-0 road loss.  “We’ve gone through a lot the last week,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Chase Sudol said, “and Grundy is a really good football team. Between the two, it made for a tough night for our guys.”  Grundy Center took leads of 28-0 after the first quarter and 48-0 into halftime and rolled to the win that dropped Nashua-Plainfield to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in Class A, District 3.Nashua-Plainfield played without three starters, but the reality is the Huskies simply didn’t have an answer for Bryce Flater, the talented Spartans’ running back who rushed 15 times for 262 yards and five touchdowns.  The rest of the story may be found in the Oct. 13 Reporter.
