Trio of Chickasaw girls honored

Lead Summary

The three ranked teams in the Northeast Iowa Conference this season — all three of which advanced to the state basketball tournament — dominated the all-conference lists that were released last week.
But New Hampton’s Maddi Moorman managed to land a spot on the first team, while Lauren Frerichs was a second team pick and Alexa Wemark was selected to the honorable mention list.
The three helped the Chickasaws to an 11-9 overall record and a 6-6 NEIC mark, finishing fourth behind the three ranked teams: 4A Waverly-Shell Rock along with 3A Crestwood and Waukon.
“For us to finish fourth in the conference and get a girl on the first team and one on the second team speaks pretty highly of our team and I’m pretty happy about that,” said coach Chad Pemble. “We’ve never had three teams in our league go to state before, that shows the depth of the NEIC this year.”
