Trojans drop two at NFV tournament

Lead Summary

Turkey Valley ran into a former Trojan when they competed in their first game at the North Fayette Valley baseball tournament Saturday.
Both the Trojans and Dike-New Hartford — coached by Sean Leonard — finished with seven hits, each left seven stranded and the Wolverines had one more error, but Turkey Valley lost the game 5-3.
Leonard played and coached for Dan Stepan.
“To be honest I do not like coaching against a good friend like him,” said Stepan. “We feel each other’s pain when the other one loses.”
Turkey Valley also lost to Don Bosco in the tourney, 15-3.
“We played a pretty clean game against a great opponent,” said coach Dan Stepan of the Dike-New Hartford game.
Mason Goerend doubled to start the game, but he was left stranded and that would be the only extra base hit for the Trojans. Each team scored a run in the third, Turkey Valley’s Elliott Dietzenbach singled with two away, Evan Drilling — who went 3-for-4 — moved Dietzenbach to third with another single and Dietzenbach scored on an error.
