Trojans give coach milestone win

Dan Stepan couldn’t help but chuckle when asked about the milestone win his Turkey Valley baseball team gave him last Tuesday.
So coach, win No. 300, great players or old age?
“Probably a little of both,” he said. “It does mean I’ve been doing this for a long time, but I think it also says something about the players we’ve had here. You know, when I started here, we were one of the smallest 2As and now, we’re a smaller 1A, but we’ve had kids who like to play, who stay out. We’ve had a lot of great athletes come through this school, and most of them play baseball.”
The Trojans gave Stepan No. 300 after a tough opening night when they were swept 22-6 and 13-0 by Lansing Kee on Monday.
But in West Union Tuesday, the Trojans got a solid pitching effort from Kannon Leuenberger and used seven hits and 10 walks to roll to a 16-5 win over the TigerHawks.
