Trojans run at UIC Indoor

Forget the places in the team standings, the Turkey Valley track teams showed plenty of potential at the Upper Iowa Conference Indoor Championships. The Trojan boys finished fifth while the girls took sixth at the meet held on Monday at Luther College in Decorah.“I thought we ran well for this early in the season,” Turkey Valley boys coach Mark Scott said. “Conditioning is something that will come with time.”The Trojans claimed two titles as Wyatt Blazek blew away the field in the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.56 seconds. Blazek, Cale Reicks, Cody Hackman and Will Einwalter routed the field by more than 3 1/2 seconds to win the 4x200.The Trojans’ also got a second place finish in the 1,6599 from Jordon Snyder.“The 4x200 picked up from last year’s success,” Scott said, “and Jordon ran a really solid indoor 1,600.”The Turkey Valley girls, meanwhile, got their track season off to a late start because of the Trojans’ run at the state girls basketball tournament and Turkey Valley’s recent musical.  All the Turkey Valley results may be found in the March 24 Tribune.
