Turkey Valley gets a homecoming win

Lead Summary

This year's Homecoming Queen at Turkey Valley didn't get to experience walking across the football field while being introduced, being crowned in front of a Friday night football crowd or riding around the track in a convertible.    Instead, Queen Ashton Kout, along with fellow volleyball teammates Lydia Schuchhardt and Emily Busta — who were also queen candidates — raced back to the locker room after the ceremony, changed out of the fancy duds and into their volleyball attire.    Then went on to help the Lady Trojans defeat Postville in straight sets Thursday, Kout and Schuchhardt on the court and Busta from the sidelines.    "I'm OK with the way things turned out," said Kout after the first Upper Iowa Conference win of the season. "It brought people out and they got to see this win."    Turkey Valley's Homecoming football opponent — Central Elkader — forfeited to the Trojans Monday when they had some injuries; they had also forfeited the previous week to Don Bosco.
