Turkey Valley takes third in the UIC

Lead Summary

How do you turn nine hits into 18 runs?
In the second game of a doubleheader sweep over Postville Thursday, walks helped the Trojans earn an 18-3 win, scoring the highest run total of the season.
Three different Pirate pitchers threw a total of 13 walks in the Trojan win.
Turkey Valley, on the other hand, had no walks as Cale Reicks threw four innings with four hits and six strikeouts and Seth Huinker saw some varsity time with one inning pitched, no hits and one K.
Postville only had one error, but that one error led to six unearned Trojan runs in a seemingly endless 12-run fourth inning.
Although walks played a big part of the scoring in that inning, Luke Anderson added a 2-RBI single and scored another run on a sacrifice fly as the TV boys went through the batting order nearly twice.
More on the games may be found in the July 10 Tribune.
