TV girls homer four times in 18-7 win over Decorah

Lead Summary

Even though Turkey Valley lost their first softball conference games of the season Monday to MFL, the Trojan girls hit the ball well in the doubleheader.
But not as well as they did against Decorah Tuesday.
Although the Vikings only have a couple of wins this year, many of their losses have been close. They lost to 1A top-ranked Kee High and to top-ranked 4A Charles City, both by four runs.
Turkey Valley, however, won by the 10-run rule in six innings, 18-7. While holding Decorah to six hits, the Trojans sprang for 15, which included two home runs by Kassidy Reicks, one by Shayla Kuennen and one by Emily Busta, her fourth of the season. That puts Turkey Valley with seven homers, one down from league-leading Kee, although Kee has played four more games.
“Big night hitting for us,” said coach Junior Hackman. “It was great to see everybody hitting the ball hard. We had a few line drive outs that might have been hit harder than any of the four home runs that we hit. Hopefully this is just the beginning of us hitting like I think we are capable of for the rest of the season.”
