Probably the majority of the people in the Turkey Valley gym Tuesday night agreed with Lydia Schuchhardt, who thought the 60-49 Lady Trojan regional win was a little closer than expected.  After all, Turkey Valley, with their 18-2 record, was playing a Mason City Newman team that went 11-11 during the season, and the Trojans have outscored their opponents by an average of over 22 points a game.  While the Trojans had a first-round bye in the postseason, the Knights were warming up with a 70-43 win over Riceville.  “We went to that game and I didn’t think Newman played that well against Riceville,” said Schuchhardt after the game. “So tonight was not quite what I was expecting.”  Foul trouble plagued the hosts, giving Schuchhardt more time on the floor, and the junior took advantage by scoring a career-high nine points.  For the full story, please turn to the Feb. 17 Tribune.
