Warrior girls claim Ed-Co team crown

Turkey Valley runners helped South Winneshiek to a successful, albeit hot, season opening meet of the season on Tuesday.The Warriors claimed the girls title at the Edgewood-Colesburg Invitational while the boys took second in the 10-team meet.This is the second year that Turkey Valley runners are competing for South Winneshiek as part of a cooperative program, and on Tuesday, Turkey Valley’s Shelby Reicks and Sadie Nymeyer both claimed top-15 finishes.Reicks finished 11th in a time of 22:20 while Nymeyer was 14th in 22:51 as South Winneshiek scored 45 points, 40 less than runner-up Central.“This is the first time we have had a meet this early and we were quite pleased with how well our kids competed,” South Winneshiek coach Kevin Kearney said.
