Chickasaw girls advance
Although the Chickasaw girls won 3-0 in the first round of regional action against North Fayette Valley Monday, the night was not without its exciting moments.
After winning the first two sets 25-18 and 25-17, New Hampton was down 15-9 in the third set when Kaylee Baker downed a kill that sent Paige Steinlage to the serving line. Steinlage helped cut the deficit to three points and when Kandice Eggerichs provided a block the margin remained the same. A Carlee Rochford kill evened the score at 21, a Baker block and the Chickasaws had a 24-23 lead before closing with a 25-23 win.
The Chickasaws will take a 24-10 record into their next round, which will be against 18-17 Vinton-Shellsburg, a 3-1 winner over Union High. That match is scheduled for Union High School Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
