Tripoli ends Trojans’ turnaround season

Even though the Turkey Valley volleyball season came to an end last Monday night at the hands of Tripoli, the season was a vast improvement from past years. The Trojan girls finished with a record of 20-13 after going 4-22 the year prior.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Republic Community Church in rural Ionia.

Robert “Bob” Volker, age 71 of New Hampton, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at New Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Norbert Charles Shileny, 86

Norbert Charles Shileny, age 86 of New Hampton and formerly of Lawler, a retired farmer and John Deere worker, passed away peacefully at the Sumner Hospital on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. 

Beryl Sjobakken, 94

Beryl Sjobakken, age 94 of New Hampton, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.

That’s what No. 2 Turkey Valley got on Friday, as they defeated No. 16 Rockford in the opening round of the eight-player playoffs after falling to the Warriors in the first round in 2018 by a score of 64-58.
